The artist brings to vivid life a country of vast tropical forests lined with countless rivers, creeks and waterfalls. In this sylvan macrocosm, each detail becomes a universe unto itself. Astri renders its depth and richness with practiced mastery. Astri the sculptor combats space with refined opalescent lines. Her angles and curves adroitly pierce the light. The worked glass is first and foremost a form directing light – in the manner of a director guiding his actors. The sculptor sets the scene; the narrative fills the imagination.
