Gérard (1936-2019) Bélanger

A blend of copper and pewter, with a bit of lead or silver or zinc sometimes added, bronze was the first metal man learned to shape in his own image.

A Roman bronze representing Artemis, goddess of the hunt and chastity, was discovered at Petra, an ancient cave-dweller settlement in Jordan. The piece holds pride of place in the patrimony of mankind.

Through both his art and his work in establishing the Art Foundry of Inverness in the Megantic region of the province, Gérard Bélanger has contributed significantly to the practice of this very ancient technique in Quebec.

Gérard Bélanger died on March 23^rd, 2019.
